2021
These new oil paintings on
canvas celebrate and were inspired by the kelp
flora shapes within the water's charged-energy,
constantly in motion and combination of
all-things interacting in the sea.
Once
abundant and perhaps taken for granted, the kelp
forests today are suffering due to climate
change. Toxins, purple sea urchins and warming
oceans combined are killing them off. They
protect small fish and form the foundation of
marine food webs. Marine biologists and others
are working to restore them to maintain a
balanced marine ecosystem. These paintings are
about hopefulness.
